CRYOTHERAPY &

INFLAMMATION
Studies have shown that one of the most profound effects of whole-body cryotherapy is it's beneficial effect on inflammation.  During times of extreme cold exposure our bodies change cytokine levels, which are in large part responsible for mediating inflammation in our bodies.  Cryotherapy helps to reduce inflammation by increasing the presence of anti-inflammatory cytokines (substance secreted by immune cells) and decreasing the presence of pro-inflammatory cytokines.  In addition, cryotherapy has the ability to increase Norepinephrine (a hormone, endorphine, neurotransmitter, and anti-inflammatory) by up to 5 times normal levels!

Inflammation is well known to wreak havoc on our bodies and minds. It's the key driver in many degenerative diseases. It increases sensitivity to pain, can cause immune dysfunction, neurological disease, depression, cancer, neuropathy, AD/HD, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, chronic pain, fibrosis, and on, and on.

In addition inflammation has been found to be the key driver in the aging process, and is the cause of most age related diseases. In a recent study of elderly people ranging from 85 - 110 years old, low inflammation was found to be the only biomarker correlated with survival and cognitive capabilities.

There is anecdotal evidence that suggests whole body cryotherapy may prevent neurodegenerative diseases in humans, through an overall reduction of inflammation in the body and the release of a special cold shock protein (RBM3) as a result of cold exposure therapy.  Those degenerative diseases include, but are not limited to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
